Condition Monitoring in Storage Rooms

Efficiently monitor humidity and temperature using radio technology and Turck Cloud Solutions

Constant Temperature and Humidity Monitoring in Storage Rooms

In many food storage environments, temperature and humidity values must constantly be kept within certain limits. Manually checking and documenting these values can be time-consuming, especially for large storage areas with a number of different measuring points.

The combined temperature and humidity sensor (M12MFTH) sends data via a battery-powered DX80 node to a DX80 wireless gateway in the switch cabinet. From there, the data is sent via Modbus RTU to the Turck Cloud Gateway (TCG20), which then transmits the data to the Turck Cloud via either Wi-Fi or UMTS. Thanks to the wireless connection, no access to the company network is required, which bypasses possible security barriers for network access.

Your Benefits

  • Increased reliability thanks to continuous trend recording
  • Encrypted Cloud protocol and optional on-premises hosting for maximum security
  • Fast installation with end-to-end wireless condition monitoring solution
  • Data reports are exported in CSV format for simplified documentation

  • The strengths of the automated wireless system can be clearly seen in expansive plants

  • The DX transmits via a proprietary 2.4-GHz protocol with a range of up to 3.2 kilometers

  • The TCG20 gateway encrypts the data and sends it via Wi-Fi or UMTS to the Turck Cloud

  • The dashboards can be individually compiled from any number of data records

Solution

TURCK's condition monitoring solution provides wireless monitoring of the storage room. The M12-MFTH temperature and humidity sensor transmits measurement data via a battery-powered DX80 radio node to a DX80 gateway in the control cabinet. From there, the data is forwarded via Modbus RTU to a TX800M Edge gateway, which transmits it to TURCK's TAS Cloud service via WLAN or LTE mobile communications.

Thanks to the mobile connection, access to the company network is not required, which avoids security barriers. Data transmission is certificate-encrypted via MQTT. All access to TAS Cloud is based on a comprehensive role and rights concept.

The cockpit in TAS Cloud displays all relevant sensor data on easily configurable dashboards and can be adapted to the requirements of the application and system without any programming knowledge. Alarms via email or SMS can be configured just as easily as long-term trend analyses or reports as CSV or XLSX files. This solution minimizes personnel costs while increasing the security and quality of monitoring.
