Linear Displace-ment and Rotary Position Sensors
Robot grippers and welding guns can now also be integrated into fieldbus systems, using special bus modules for Profibus DP and DeviceNet.

During the last few years, fieldbus technology has contributed considerably to cutting production costs. Some productional sectors, however, were excluded from this development, so that system engineers and system operators in these branches did not profit from the saving potentials of fieldbus technology.
Robot applications, in particular welding and gripper robots, were not integrated in bus-controlled automation solutions. The task was accomplished with passive junctions for connection of sensors and actuators and signal transfer via so-called multicore cables to the robot control system. With the new remote I/O modules from Turck, these applications may now also be integrated into ProfibusDP and DeviceNet.
